Students of the school have gone on to appear in a range of professional performances and shows, and many of Mavis' former pupils have now become teachers in their own right. Pupils from the school have performed in lots of productions at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton and beyond, and as well as their high exam results, they have won many trophies and awards at dance festivals. Students have appeared with artists including Lenny Henry, Roy Castle, Charlie Williams, Barbara Dickson, Edmond Hockridge, John Caine, Sarah Green and Mike Reid. |
A few words of praise for former pupils who have been successful: Michelle Trueick, Jane Harding and Liza Carter, who were chosen from 2,000 acts over Britain to appear on the BBC’s ‘Search for a Star’. She went on to dance professionally and appeared on the Barbara Dickson Show. |

Amba Tremain who was chosen to appear in the traveling company of The English National Ballet (performing in ‘The Nutcracker’) and who eventually became a winner in the television programme ‘This Is My Moment’, securing a prize of £150,000. |
Sarah Cannon, who was the winner in the Marjorie Davies Supreme Award for Tap Dancing, held in London and adjudicated by Lionel Blair. Jayne Harding who danced in many professional shows including ‘The Lenny Henry Show’ at Blazers’ Night Club, Windsor. |
