Jazz
As well as scoring for film and a continued
interest in chamber music for the concert hall, Andy composes
for various Jazz ensembles and has performed with a list of
musicians including Mornington Lockett, Ed Jones, Alan Barnes,
Spike Robinson, Dave O’Higgins, John Ehtheridge, Pete
Wareham, Lanny Morgan and others at many Jazz venues in this country
including The Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican, The Jazz Café
and Vortex in London. He has arranged and produced albums for
groups including The Jazz Terr., Paul Young, Andy Dickens and
DHSS and has toured and recorded with bands such as On The Corner,
whose album was released through 33 Records.
Andy also formed
an integral part of the reformation of the Dick Heckstall-Smith
Sextet, performing at the London Jazz Festival and broadcast live
on BBC radio 3. His jazz writing is often characterized
by his other classical and contemporary influences and he
has composed for a wide range of ensembles, from trios to big
band.
